16.25 pounds wins Aug. 6 fishing tournament on Lake Wylie
The thunderstorms and low water levels kept the fishermen away from the Aug. 6 Thursday Night Tournament Trail, said event co-organizer Erwin Gaston.
“But we still had 22 boats turn out for the tournament,” he said. “The storms blew through during sign up and cooled the air, which made for a nice night to be on the water.”
Mike Stephens and Sam Facella found five bass that tipped the scale at 16.25 pounds for the win.
Second place and big fish went to the team of Robin Cairco and Mike Buscheu. Their five fish weighed 13.98 pounds, and the big fish weighed 5.42 pounds.
The trail is sponsored by Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bonds Agency and Sparks Grading.
Tournaments are held Thursdays through Aug. 27. Registration runs 5:30-6:20 p.m. at Buster Boyd Access Area. Blast off is at 6:30 p.m. and weigh-in at 11 p.m. The two-night Championship Fish-off is Sept. 11-12.
