Suspect in Lake Wylie armed robbery turns himself in

York County Sheriff’s Office have Jonathan Alexander Phillips, suspected of armed robbery of the Murphy Express gas station in Lake Wylie, in custody.

Phillips, 23, of York turned himself in Aug. 17, according to the report. He is charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and armed robbery.

The officers responded to a robbery just after 12:30 a.m. Aug. 13 at the gas station at 138 Highway 274 in Lake Wylie. The report states $185 was taken at the register and a 24 ounce beer. Surveillance video was released Aug. 13. A witness helped officers, who were able to put out an alert Aug. 14 looking for the suspect.
