Thursday fishing tourney yields 14.74-pound win on Lake Wylie
Thursday Night Tournament Trail organizers said the Aug. 20 weekly event was “a carbon copy of last week.”
“The thunder rumbled and the rain fell, but the fishing went on,” said Erwin Gaston, who co-organizes the event with Jeremy Cabe.
The winning weight Aug. 13 was 14.73 pounds, and Aug. 20 was 14.74 pounds brought in by Mike Stone and Joe Floyd, he said.
“About half the field of 29 boats caught enough fish to bring to the scales,” Gaston said.
Second place went to the brothers team of Isaac and Caleb Sosebee. Their five fish bag weighed 13.04 pounds.
The big fish of the night weighed 4.86 pounds and was brought in by the team of Conrad Pogorzelski and Gerald Ramsey.
With one more tournament this 2015 season, Gaston said, “It has been a good year, and if you haven’t fished with us, come on out and give it a try next Thursday.”
The trail is sponsored by Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bonds Agency and Sparks Grading.
Tournaments are held Thursdays through Aug. 27. Registration runs 5:30-6:20 p.m. at Buster Boyd Access Area. Blast off is at 6:30 p.m. and weigh-in at 11 p.m. The two-night Championship Fish-off is Sept. 11-12.
