12.64 pounds wins last trail tourney on Lake Wylie
The Thursday Night Tournament Trail finished the season series on a good note before heading into the two-day championship round.
“It was a cool, clear bright moon night with just enough breeze to keep the mosquitoes away,” said Erwin Gaston, who co-organizes the event with Jeremy Cabe.
Team Mike Stephens and Mike Smith beat out the field of 28 boats with a weight of 12.64 pounds.
Second place went to father-son team Rob and Matt Johnson with 12.08 pounds.
The two night fish-off is set for Sept. 11-12.
“We have 71 teams to qualify for the entry-free tournament,” Gaston said.
The trail is sponsored by Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express and A-1 Adams Bail Bonds Agency and Sparks Grading.
