Sheriff’s golf tourney Sept. 14

The Sheriff’s Foundation of York County will hold the ninth annual Invitational Golf Tournament will be 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Springfield Golf Club in Fort Mill.

Proceeds have been able to give $77,000 in scholarship money to York County students. Also $11,000 has been used to purchase back packs and school supplies for York County students in need. Money raised also goes to Safety Patrol programs, Children’s Attention Home and Boy Scout Explorer Post 1786.

Bowling leagues forming

Lake Wylie Bowl N’ Bounce is forming fall leagues for all ages and skill levels.

Leagues are sanctioned and unsanctioned, competitive or social for children through seniors.

Women’s bowling league starts Sept. 16

Lake Wylie women’s bowling league meets mid-September through March with a motto “We bowl for lunch.”

Bowling day and time 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 16.

Local golfers swing in Cornelius, N.C., event

Final results are posted for the Aug. 31 Carolinas Golf Association’s Senior Four-Ball One-Day Tournament at The Peninsula Club in Cornelius, N.C.

John Reimers of Clover and Jim Sears of Lake Wylie finished 37-37 - 74 in Super Senior 65 and older Flight A.

Dave Duncan and Harold Fisher, both of Lake Wylie, finished 36-39 - 75 in Super Senior 65 and Flight B.

Tournament format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play, both gross and net. Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 55th birthday by the tournament date, is a member of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association, and has a current USGA Handicap Index at a CGA member club. The field is divided into divisions based on age and total team course handicap: Tournament Division-Flight A, Flight B; Super Senior 65 and older Division, Flight A, Flight B; Super Senior 70 and older Division.
