Walk for Recovery Sept. 12 in Steele Creek

New Life Purpose Ministries will hold Walk for Recovery at 10 a.m. Sept. 12 at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, 15000 York Road.

Sponsors and vendors with information about mental health, substance abuse and other related topics are wanted.

The Rev. Ricou Williams of Clover hopes to raise money to establish The Lord Our Righteousness Help Center, a six- to 18-month transitional housing program focusing on substance abuse, job training and placement, mental health, anger management and related issues.

By partnering faith-based groups, Williams wants to help the people who often don’t stay in the same spot long. Public support agencies have residency and other rules that could limit some people locally, Williams said.

“We find a lot of people fall through the cracks,” he said.

Walker registration begins at 8 a.m. Cost is $10.

For information, call 704-712-7516 or 980-322-4161, or visit newlifepurposeministries.com.
