1995
▪ Indian Land residents were lobbying for a new Indian Land School to replace the current school which was built in 1947.
▪ The Fort Mill Area Chamber of Commerce was promoting the idea of impact fees for Fort Mill Township.
▪ On the gridiron, Fort Mill was defeated 16-8 by Lancaster and Indian Land bested Bethune by a 45-12 score.
▪ Al Steele, president of Fort Mill Ford, received the Friend of Vocational Education Award given by the South Carolina Vocational Directors Association.
1975
▪ After 51 years as a grocer in Fort Mill, Luther G. Patterson called it a career. Luke sold his Red and White Food Store on Tom Hall St. to Bun Collins and Bob Marrett.
▪ Twelve-year-old Rhonda Broom claimed she was the first female member of the football team at Fort Mill Junior High School.
▪ Judge J. C. Pearce, who had served as the presiding judge at Fort Mill’s City Recorder’s Court, resigned.
▪ The Fort Mill School District Four Board of Trustees was considering a proposal to lease the old Riverview School property to the Rock Hill Baptist Temple.
1955
▪ William O. Stroup purchased the stock of Hutchinson’s Dry Goods at 123 Main St. from Mrs. J. H. Hutchinson.
▪ A Carolina Stages bus skidded through a stop sign at Hwy. 21 Bypass and Hwy. 160 West and struck a 1953 Oldsmobile. Two died and eight were injured as result of the collision.
1935
▪ The Fort Mill schools opened for the fall session with 745 students, the largest enrollment in school history.
▪ Herbert Harris, commander of the recently organized Fort Mill Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars, left for New Orleans for the purpose of attending the National Convention.
1915
▪ Mr. R. F. Greer, Fort Mill School Board member for 15 years and acting chairman of the board, tendered his resignation. J.B. Mills was elected chairman.
▪ At a meeting of City Council, Mr. A.C. Lytle of the Parks Drug Store was appointed city register.
