Girl Scouts seek food donations for CAAC

Girl Scouts in York County are kicking off their 2015-2016 season with a Keep It Local: Feed The Need In Our Community food drive to support Clover Area Assistance Center.

With more than 80 troops in Tega Cay, Fort Mill, Lake Wylie and York, Girl Scouts are requesting nonperishable food donations to be dropped off at businesses through Sept. 26. Donations will be picked-up and delivered Sept. 26 by the Scouts to CAAC.

Donations may be dropped off at: Victory Custom Golf, 4543 Charlotte Highway, No. 7; Echo Consignment Boutique, 164 Highway 274; Anytime Fitness, 125 Evergreen Road; Lake Wylie Crossfit, 4094 Charlotte Highway; and OmYoga in Fort Mill, 936 Market St.

“CAAC is the perfect choice for our troops,” said Jennifer Spitzer, community service coordinator for York 2 Girl Scouts. “We know there are many families and children in need here in our own backyard, and CAAC is able to see that everything we collect will go to the people who need it most.”

Spitzer says it also teaches the girls the value of volunteering in their community, and will develop character and leadership skills.
