Rain proves good for trail championship on Lake Wylie
There were 46 teams competing in the two-night Thursday Night Tournament Trail fish-off Sept. 11-12.
“It rained on the trail most of the season, so it was appropriate it rained during the championship,” said Erwin Gaston, who co-organizes the weekly tournament series with Jeremy Cabe. “The rain, however, turned out to be a good thing because the fish were biting pretty good. Most of the teams were catching the bass on 8-inch worms and bussbaits.”
Tony Colacurcio and Jay Adams reeled in 31.30 pounds for the $2,800 win.
Second place and $1,400 went to Eric Brink and Jarod Kimak with a two-night total of 28.53 pounds.
Matt Queen and Adam Fillmore landed in third with 28.03 pounds for $1,000.
The top 13 spots were paid.
The trail will start again the first Thursday in April, Gaston said.
This year’s sponsors were Academy Sports, Kangaroo Express, A-1 Adams Bail Bonds Agency and Sparks Grading.
