The Cheer Gem opens in Lake Wylie

A new gymnastic facility has tumbled into Lake Wylie.

Jessica Jordan, certified by the U.S. All Star Federation to coach cheering, stunts and tumbling levels 1-5, opened the doors of The Cheer Gem in late July, next door to CrossFit Lake Wylie in Lake Wylie Plaza.

“Ever since I was in high school, I’ve always dreamed of owning my own gym,” she said. “When the opportunity presented itself it was hard to say no.”

Jordan moved into the former Lake Wylie gymnastic and cheer facility, a 2,400-square-foot space.

According to the website, offerings include a full-size practice mat, skill-specific tumbling mats, a 30 foot long Tumbl Trak and landing mat, a ready room and parent viewing room, as well as medically trained staff for first aid.

Jordan has been practicing tumbling since she was 5 years old, and cheered for Clover High School and Winthrop University. She has been involved in cheering more than 20 years and been a competitive coach for more than six years.

“I have six to seven years of coaching from Lake Wylie Pop Warner, Oakridge and other gyms,” she said.

Jordan plan to add staff, classes and a competition team.

“That’s the goal,” she said.
