Temple Solel posts High Holy Days services

Temple Solel, the Reform Jewish Congregation, will hold Yom Kippur services Sept. 23 at St. Philip Neri Church community room.

The services will be a10 a.m. morning service, 4 p.m. Yiskor, closing services to follow. Break-the-fast following closing services.

Good Sam UMC hosting simulcast Sept. 26

Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, 5220 Crowders Cove Road, will hold Beth Moore’s Living Proof Simulcast 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 26.

Community invited to power of prayer conference Oct. 3

The Journey at Lake Wylie, 5415 Highway 557, will host a free conference for the entire community on The Amazing Power of Prayer from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 3.

Conference leaders are Jesse and Elizabeth Enns of Antioch International Church in Charlotte. The Enns moved here from Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2005. Both are musicians, song writers and worship leaders having released their first worship album in 2009. In 2010, they began a nonprofit ministry called the Power Fund, which helps provide funding for the poor, orphan, widows and emergency relief during catastrophes.

The conference goal is to unite to pray for one another, churches, families, country and the cause of Christ throughout the world.

“We hope and pray our community will come together and unite in prayer,” said Pastor Kenny Ashley of The Journey. “Our goal is to awaken people to the urgent need for the body of Christ to join together and help the Lord build His kingdom in our little corner of the world.”

Church invites yard sale donations

The Journey at Lake Wylie, 5415 Highway 557, will hold a yard and bake sale 7 a.m.-noon Oct. 10 in the life center.

A painted and re-purposed furniture section will be a feature of this year’s event. The church is accepting donations for this fundraising event. Email popka@ymail.com.

Bill Graham Library to hold events

Billy Graham Library will hold the following events:

▪ 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 17: The eighth annual Bikers with Boxes charity ride for Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child. For more information, email LibraryEvents@bgea.org.

▪ 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 20: Ladies Night Out with a preview of the annual Christmas at the Library at the Billy Graham Library. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and be among the first to see the library’s Christmas decorations and hear an encouraging message from Kendra Graham, wife of evangelist Will Graham. ▪ Billy Graham Library is partnering with the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh, N.C., for a special exhibit – “North Carolina’s Favorite Son: Billy Graham and His Remarkable Journey of Faith” – Nov. 6-July 10. Through interactive displays, multimedia and never-before-seen memorabilia, visitors can retrace Billy Graham’s steps through history and discover his faith and leadership at work during the Cold War, the battle against segregation, and through unprecedented partnerships with churches around the world.

Free community clothing closet

A community clothing closet will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 17 at Christ the King Church.

There will be men’s women’s and children’s clothing and shoes available free of charge. Christ the King Church is at 13501 S. Tryon St.

Lake Wylie Lutheran Church Quilters will hold Holiday Boutique 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 7.

All items must be handmade or hand embellished; no resale items please. Cost is $25 for a 10-by-10 booth.

Community Cafe serves lunch Tuesdays

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly.

The Cafe at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church in Fort Mill serves lunch 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays.
