Letter: Police should not have shot dog

This is in response to article in the Fort Mill Times about a lawsuit on the town and police dept. for the shooting of a dog. Well, I do not blame the guy for the suit as the police should not have shot the dog and then not let the dog be treated.

This was oh so wrong. It may have been a dog but that dog had feelings and I know all too well about harassment by neighbors as we go through it every day and police don’t really do anything so we do understand and I can imagine how this owner must feel that he was not allowed to get his dog help. That is so cruel and was animal abuse on the part of police.

I thought a lot of the FMPD, but now I don’t know. If it was the officer, he would have done the same thing this man done had it been his dog or child. What has got wrong with our law enforcement? The bad is let go and the innocent pays.

Well, I hope this guy hangs in. It will all be taken care of one day when they meet their maker God as they will pay then as will our evil neighbors that harass us every day. God will judge these police and our neighbors. Just hang in. Don’t give in to Satan in them that does these things.

Editor’s note: The Fort Mill Police Dept. did call animal control to tend to the wounded dog referenced in the story and this letter. That information was not in the incident report provided by the FMPD, nor in the summons delivered to the defendants in the civil lawsuit referenced in the story and this letter.
