McLean Discovery Days preview
Montcross Area Chamber members previewed McLean Discovery Days, which began Sept. 26, during Network After Work event on Sept. 10.
McLean new homes communities will be built on 670 acres at the former Daniel Stowe property near the botanical garden. When completed, the project will include up to 900 homes in three communities on and near Lake Wylie.

Christian yoga offered at Pure Bliss

Prowl the Den contest offered
Allen Tate Co. is offering a chance to Prowl the Den. On Nov. 14, 25 winners will be taking a guided, open house tour of the Panthers’ facilities.
The contest is open to North and South Carolina residents age 18 or older at the time of entry with a valid email address. To enter, register at contest.allentate.com or contact an Allen Tate Realtor.
The tour will take the winners and their guests to areas throughout the stadium not open to the general public, including the Panthers’ locker room, PantherVision studio, Bank of America Stadium’s kitchen and Gridiron Club.
At the end of the tour, one of the 25 tour winners will win a grand prize of four suite tickets and four field passes for the Jan. 3 home game against Tampa, and four replica Carolina Panthers jerseys. Tour winners must be present to win the grand prize.
Contest ends at 11:59 a.m. Oct. 30. Tour winners will be notified Nov. 4.
Businesses hosting Manufacturing Day event for students
Okuma America Corp., a world-leader in CNC machine tool manufacturing, and Siemens, one of the world’s largest producers of energy-efficient, resource-saving technologies, are partnering to host a Manufacturing Day 2015 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Oct. 2 in Charlotte.
High school students will be given the opportunity to tour each company and learn how CNC machining and modern manufacturing play important roles in a multitude of industries. Students will learn about the educational paths needed to pursue traditional and non-traditional careers in manufacturing. They’ll have the opportunity to speak with students from Clemson’s CU-ICAR program and technical professionals to hear about careers as engineers, machine tool operators, programmers, and service and finance professionals.
Students also will see robotic and cutting demonstrations on state-of-the-art CNC machine tools at Okuma. On the walking tour of Siemens, participants will view the production of steam and gas turbines and generators while learning about power generation and transmission systems.
