River Hills Women’s group to meet
The River Hills Women’s Club’s Oct. 21 luncheon will feature Jackie Wagner of the Daughters of the American Revolution at River Hills Country Club.
This is a social group for women who live in River Hills or are a member of the River Hills Country Club. Interest groups include Book Club, Garden Club, Beginners Bridge, Couples Bridge, Sew and Chat.

Troop 333 selling popcorn
Scouts from Lake Wylie Troop 333, which meets at River Hills Community Church, will sell popcorn through Oct. 23.
Proceeds go to troop activities including camp-outs, supplies and operating costs.
Sheriff to speak Oct. 23 in Lake Wylie
York County Sheriff Bruce Bryant will speak at the Oct. 23 Clover/Lake Wylie Republican Women luncheon at River Hills Country Club.
Bryant will talk about local crime, gun control, security and police body cameras.
Social time begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and speaker at noon.
Cost is $20. Women and men invited. To reserve a seat, with or without lunch, call 803-831-1814 by Oct. 20.
The club will hold membership champagne tea and 2016 dues will be collected Nov. 20. Call 803-831-0689 for an invitation to this annual event.
Registration underway for Oct. 24 Mummy Shuffle
Registration is underway for the fourth annual Clover Rotary Club Mummy Shuffle 5K fun run and walk on Saturday, Oct. 24. Entry fee is $15 in advance and $20 on the day.
Participants who register before Oct. 14 will be guaranteed a race T-shirt. Registration and check-in will begin at 8 a.m. in front of the First Baptist Church COAC building, 111 S. Main St., Clover.
The race will start at 8:30 a.m. Awards will be given for race winners and best costumes.
Entry forms are available at EventBrite.com, cloverrotary.org, and on the club’s Facebook page. Forms are also available at the Clover YMCA, 107 S. Main St., and Town Hall, 116 Bethel St.
This event is sponsored by the Clover Rotary Club with support from the Clover High School Interact Club.
Shriners’ Fall Bazaar Oct. 25
Red Fez Shrine Club Fall Bazaar open house is 2-5 p.m. Oct. 25 at the club, 16600 Red Fez Club Road.
There will be more than 20 outside vendors, such as Mary Kay, Pampered Chef and Thirty One, at the one-stop shop event.
Rotary honors Bordeaux
Lake Wylie Rotary Club presented Chad Bordeaux the Paul Harris Fellow Award – Plus 2, one of the highest awards in Rotary.
A multiple Paul Harris Fellow has continued to contribute to the Rotary Foundation.
Bordeaux’s contributions include: Lake Wylie Rotary charter member, obtaining nonprofit organization certification, handling fundraising finances, appointed to assistant governor for the incoming Rotary District 7750 governor, graduated Rotary Leadership Institute, awarded Lake Wylie Citizen of the Year 2012 by Lake Wylie Chamber of Commerce, led the club to its first Rotary International Presidential Citation Award and Club of Excellence Award from the district, served as club president 2011-2013 and treasurer 2010-2011 and 2013 to present.
4-H seeks leaders
York County 4-H is seeking volunteer leaders to lead clubs and short-term projects in sporting clays, shotgun, photography, finance, robotics, small pets and healthy lifestyles.

Sweet Repeat names charity groups
Sweet Repeat Charitable Foundation has named groups that received donations this year.
The group donated $71,000 to several charities: Camp Thunderbird, Canine Companions, Children’s Attention Home, Chrysalis Autism Center, Clover Area Assistance Center, God’s Kitchen, Herman Presbyterian Church, Hospice Community Care, Lake Wylie Children’s Charity, Lake Wylie Library, Make A Wish Foundation, Mia Via Inc., Misty Meadows Mighty Riders, Pilgrim’s Inn, Respect for Life Ministries, Richardson Rescue, RideAbility Therapeutic Riding Center, River Hills/Lake Wylie EMS, The Haven Men’s Shelter and York County Adult Day Care.
The club also awarded three scholarships to Clover High School students.

The group raises money through its thrift store at 4082B Charlotte Highway in Lake Wylie Plaza. Hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The store accepts gently-used clothing, furniture, kitchen items, jewelry and more.
New members are welcome. Annual dues cost $20, and members are required to work six hours a month at the shop. Applications are available at the store.
