Lake Wylie helps flood victims
A truckload of supplies went to Columbia earlier this month after Lake Wylie neighbors banded together to help flood victims.
River Hills Community Church, Autumn Cove townhome residents and others collected supplies that they put in a donated Penske truck bound for Columbia. Supplies arrived at Trenholm Church in Columbia Oct. 9.
“This was a great success and a wonderful community effort,” said organizer Monique Boekhout. “The Lake Wylie community cares and it shows.”
Other groups also collected donations in the Lake Wylie area.
Oakridge Middle School in Lake Wylie collected school supplies, book bags, jackets, undergarments, socks and canned goods through Oct. 16.
You Scored Lawn Service, Beyond Revealed Productions, Clover Area Pop Warner and Kodiak Mini Storage of Lake Wylie also collected water through Oct. 17.
