Lake Wylie woman publishes sci-fi book
Carol King Butler of Lake Wylie debuts her first fiction novel “The Trinibeings’ Daughters” featuring older women as heroes.
“If ‘Hunger Games’ Katniss Everdeen or ‘Divergent’s’ Tris Prior were 55 years old, imagine them as these women,” Butler said.
Butler, a playwright for more than 15 years and former radio broadcast sales manager, says her lifelong fascination with the relatively few female heroes compared to the many male heroes inspired her.
“This is an adventure involving older but savvy women who discover late in life they are descendants of an immortal ancient family called The Trinibeings,” she said. “They soon discover they have super powers.”
Everything they thought was real is shattered at a symposium. Caretakers of the universe, The Light-Beings, explain what will happen to Earth/aqua if these three women do not intervene. Most of the story is set in South America at Angel Falls where the tallest waterfall in the world is ground zero for changing the water humans drink.
The aliens who attack are morphers from another planet. They seek not only revenge and destruction, but also to use and harm The Trinibeings’ Daughters. The morphers need the women to lead them to what will give them dominion over not only aqua but the universe, the Atlantis Crystal.
“I wanted a reality underscoring the sci-fi setting; real women reacting to extraordinary events and demands,” Butler said. “I hope readers find them inspiring, funny, strong and clever, because I think women deserve to have this experience, to identify with decisions made and those to come.”
Butler’s first book was the nonfiction “Living Inside-Out: Be Who You Imagine You Can.” Her short fiction, “The Tenth Life” deals in an uplifting way with what a cat says to her owner before she leaves her ninth life. It recently became an audio book at https://carolkingbutler.selz.com.
