The Lake Wylie Shamrocks baseball 12U team won the Oct. 11 Dick’s Sporting Goods Swing for the Cure Championship.

They won all three games, scoring 21 runs – 10-8 against the Stealth Eagles, 5-1 against Dilworth U11 and 6-1 against Stealth Eagles.

This is the team’s second year, and this season they have played in four tournaments and qualified for three championship games. They have had two runner-up finishes and won the championship after a hard fight from behind win in extra innings.

The Lake Wylie Shamrocks also added a 11U team to the baseball club. The competitive travel baseball teams practice three times a week and compete in about 15 tournaments a year.

The team has been accepted to go to the Cooperstown, N.Y., Dreams Park in July for a week-long tournament.
