1995
▪ The Leroy Springs Recreation Complex dedicated a new playground and fitness center to the memory of J. Howard Knox, the complex director for three decades.
▪ The Fort Mill High School marching band won the Upper State Class AAA marching championship at Clinton High School.
▪ Fort Mill High School 10th-grader Maurice Wilson participated in the Million Man March held in Washington, D.C.
▪ Polly Adkins as Daisy Werthan, Rahn Scott as Hoke Colburn and Tim Turner as Boolie Werthan were ready for the Fort Mill Community Playhouse production of “Driving Miss Daisy.”
1975
▪ Miss Conyous Lawson, sponsored by Steve Godfrey, was crowned Homecoming Queen during halftime of Fort Mill’s 42-6 win against Christ Church.
▪ Miss Robin Allen was named Miss Fort Mill High School Carrousel Princess. Miss Ziza Smith was first runner up and Miss GiGi Mills was second runner up.
▪ Fort Mill’s City Council voted to accept a Law Enforcement Assistance Grant to be used by the Fort Mill Police Department to employ a detective.
▪ Miss Karen Griffin, sponsored by Larry Walker, was crowned Indian Land Homecoming Queen at halftime of the Warriors 19-0 shutout of Camden Military Academy.
1955
▪ Miss Jo Ann McDonald was crowned Homecoming Queen at Fort Mill High School halftime ceremonies of the Jackets 14-14 tie with Indian Land.
▪ Movies at the Center included Audie Murphy playing himself in “ To Hell and Back,” “Hands Across the Border” with Roy Rogers, and “Blood Alley” with John Wayne.
1935
▪ Practically all Fort Mill teachers were present at the fall meeting of the York County Teachers’ Association meeting in Rock Hill.
▪ Among those making the honor roll of the Fort Mill schools were Lunsford McFadden, Elva Dorothy Lee, Louise Starnes and Clyde Boy.
1915
▪ Many Fort Mill people made their way to Charlotte, where they enjoyed performances of the Barnum and Bailey Circus.
▪ Fort Mill friends of Samuel Warren of Fort Mill Township, who had enlisted in the U.S. Army, were interested to hear that he was stationed at Laredo, Texas.
