Oakridge Middle volleyball ends on loss

▪ The Oakridge Middle School Lady Golden Eagles volleyball team concluded their season with a loss in the second round of playoffs to Dutchman Creek. OMS lost 25-27 in the first game. In the second game, the Lady Eagles almost pulled off a win but lost 18-25.

▪ The OMS eighth grade football team lost 40-18 Oct. 21 to Clover Middle School. Oakridge was winning 12-8 with one minute to go until halftime when Clover captured the lead 16-12. The Blue Eagles received the ball to start the second half, but on the first offensive play, the Golden Eagles forced a fumble and dove on the ball to regain momentum. But, the Oakridge drive ended quickly with a turnover. The Blue Eagles scored another touchdown and expanded the lead 24-12. OMS reached the end zone on the next possession making the score 24-18. Clover mishandled the kick allowing Oakridge to regain possession at mid-field down by 6 heading into the final quarter. The fourth quarter saw another turnover giving Clover the ball, and the Blue Eagle offense scored 14 more in the final period.

Offense highlights: Drew Moore,18 rushes for 124 yards, 2 receptions for 22 yards; Zion Robbins, 14 rushes for 43 yards, 1 TD, 1 reception for 11 yards; Tay Cupe,9 rushes for 24 yards, 2 TD, 2 receptions for 12 yards; Blackmon Huckabee, 5-6 passing for 44 yards.

Defense highlights: Zion Robbins, 3.5 tackles, recovered fumble on onside kick; Hayden Johnson, 3 tackles; Comorey Mikell, 1.5 tackles; Dymaree Mason, 1 tackle, 1 fumble recovery; Aaron Adair, 1 tackle; Matt Hurley, 1 tackle; Drew Moore, 1 forced fumble.
