Break-ins reported at Lake Wylie

The York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating break-ins in the Lake Wylie area that could be connected.

Residents on Forbes Court, in a neighborhood off S.C. 274, reported break-ins Oct. 27.

A resident told investigators a black four-door sedan with tinted windows and a pink sticker on the back left window pulled into the driveway about noon Oct. 27. A black male with dreadlocks got out of the car and looked into the garage, the report states. After turning the car around to face the street, the driver rang the doorbell before noticing the resident looking out the window. Two suspects left the scene quickly.

Both are described as black males who were nicely dressed. The man with dreadlocks was tall and thin, with the driver shorter and stocky. The driver wore a blue dress shirt and tie, dark baseball hat and dark pants.

More reports from Forbes Court neighbors were filed with similar suspect and vehicle descriptions matching three cases with “possibly more pending.”

A neighbor had a glass door broken, but reported nothing stolen. Another resident arrived home that afternoon to find a nightstand and bathroom sink drawers opened, and closet rummaged.

A resident said it wasn’t clear “they got anything from anyone,” according to the report.

Another incident occurred just before 1 p.m. Oct. 27 on Johnson Road, in a lakefront community off Lake Wylie Road. The suspect is described as a black male, though two suspects could be involved. Charges include first degree burglary and malicious injury to real property.

According to the sheriff’s report, the resident was upstairs when the doorbell rang. The suspect went around back and began tapping on a glass door. The glass eventually shattered, but the suspect did not enter the home.

Officers are looking for a black Chevy Cruz with a pink sticker on the back left window.
