School notes: Palisades Episcopal School forms global partnerships for reading
PES forms global partnership for reading
Palisades Episcopal School eighth-graders recently participated in The Global Read Aloud, a program, which connects students internationally through common text.
This year more than 400,000 students participated from countries around the world.
After reading “Fish,” by, L.S. Matthews, the students were paired with a class from Boras, Sweden, and together moderated a Twitter slow chat to create questions, as well as respond to comments from other students around the world. The slow component of the chat ensured that despite time zones, all students were able to connect.
Highlights of the project included an unexpected Twitter chat with the author, and the partnership forged between PES and Swedish counterparts. The students have remained email pals and exchanged care packages of items unique to their countries.

The parade begins at Lake Wylie Elementary School and winds through The Crossings neighborhood (Moss Road) and ends at Good Shepherd Church.
Participation is free, but registration is required by Nov. 23. Registration forms are at http://tinyurl.com/no7ldzv.
