Silver Haired group meets Nov. 18
The Catawba Council of the South Carolina Silver Haired Legislature meets at 11 a.m. Nov. 18 at Highland Park Senior, 917 Standard St.
The purposes of the SCSHL are to identify issues, concerns and solutions for problems faced by South Carolina residents, specifically seniors; and to make recommendations to the governor, educate the public and encourage participation.
This council serves Chester, Lancaster, Union and York counties. All members of the community are welcome to observe meetings. Anyone interested in joining may call 803-287-9453.
Western county NAACP to meet
The Western York County branch of the NAACP will have its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Greater York Chamber of Commerce. For details, call Wanda Simril at 803-684-6200.
GOP group membership event Nov. 20
The Clover-Lake Wylie Republican Women’s Club will hold a complimentary annual membership champagne tea 3-5 p.m. Nov. 20 at the home of Peggy Upchurch Long, 14 Sunrise Point Court.
Club officers for 2016-2017 will be installed. They are Long, president; Jamie Henrickson, vice president; Barbara Haba, second vice president; Gloria Hein, secretary; and Margarett Blackwell, treasurer.
S.C. Sen. Katrina Shealy (R-Lexington) will offer brief remarks.

Ballroom dance club meets Nov. 20
The Ballroom Dance Club meets at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Oak Room of the Fort Mill Golf Course, 101 Country Club Drive.
Guest admission is $15 per couple, $7.50 singles and includes a free dance lesson. Dances include swing and shag.

Choral society to present ‘Messiah’
The York County Choral Society will present Handel’s “Messiah” Part 1 at 4 p.m. Dec. 6 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1320 India Hook Road, Rock Hill.
Tickets are $20, adults; $10, seniors; and $5, students.
Sign up for the 4-H/FFA Swine Project
The Clemson Extension Service in York, Lancaster and Chester counties seeks youth to participate in the 2015-2016 4-H/FFA Swine Project Show and Sale.
Ages 5-19 will obtain a feeder pig in January, raise it for three months and show the finished hog at the Annual Swine Show and Sale. Participants must be age 5 by Jan. 1 and register as a 4-H member or be a registered FFA member in the Clover or York FFA Chapters to participate.
The show and sale is March 26 at the Chester Livestock Exchange in Richburg.

Tickets on sale for Clover tour
The Clover Woman’s Club will hold its Christmas in Historic Clover Tour 2-5 p.m. Dec. 12-13.
The tour features 19th century homes and the landmark Jackson’s Kitchen. Also included on the tour are two new Clover event venues, Red Boot Ranch and Iron Gate Horse Farm.
