1995
▪ Fort Mill Police Officer Rusty Hunter and Reserve Officer Randy Hoover received lifesaving medals for saving the life of a Fort Mill woman.
▪ The Fort Mill School District was mourning the death of Lil Dickert Gainey, who taught French at Fort Mill High School for 21 years.
▪ Fort Mill’s football season came to an end in the second round of the playoffs with a 10-6 loss to No. 8 Newberry Bulldogs.
▪ Commercials for Ford vehicles were shot in Fort Mill. Featured were the Fort Mill Fire Department building, Main Street shops and Springfield, an ancestral home of the Springs family.
1975
▪ One of Fort Mill’s best known residents, Dr. William H. Martin, 50, died unexpectedly. Martin was the proprietor of Martin Drug Co. on Main Street.
▪ The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets won the Conference 3-AA football championship, defeating Great Falls 42-0 at Memorial Stadium.
▪ The new Miss Indian Land High School was Susan Price, 17-year-old daughter of Mrs. Mary Price and the late Gene Price.
▪ Gene Rogers, Cub Master of Pack 108 of Saint John’s United Methodist Church, received the Palmetto Award at a York District Scout Recognition banquet.
1955
▪ The Winthrop College marching band with Jean Carothers of Fort Mill as a member, were pictured on the front page of the Fort Mill Times.
▪ The seniors and freshmen defeated the juniors and sophomores in the annual Powder Bowl at Fort Mill High School. Sammie Osborne was named Mister Powder Bowl.
1935
▪ The WBT Radio Show was coming to Fort Mill Grammar School with “Philco Phil,” the Maxwell Twins, “Gatemouth” Setzer and “Bubba” Allison.
▪ Fort Mill men were given employment cutting timber on the farm of W. B. Ardrey.
1915
▪ The Parent-Teachers Club declared Dec. 3 as a community service day, which would entail cleaning and working on the building and grounds of the local school.
▪ The class of Miss Fannie Lewis, teacher of music in the local graded school, gave a public recital.
