Team Good Times members won the Nov. 14 Catawba Catfish Club tournament on Lake Wylie with 70 pounds.

The Catawba Catfish Club held its second tournament of the 2015-2016 season Nov. 14 on Lake Wylie with 31 boats competing for $2,700.

“We had clear skies with a morning low in the 30s and high in the mid 50s,” said organizer Marty Green.

Green said the wind was steady at 8-10 mph most of the day with gusts 15 mph. The water was stained to muddy after recent heavy rains and a cold front that pushed through the day before.

“The bite was pretty slow for most, but some teams managed decent fish to bring to the scales,” Green said. “Weights were lower than what the norm has been on Wylie the last few years, but it was still a close weigh-in.”

Of the 31 boats in the competition, 25 brought fish to the scales.

Team Good Times made up of Gary Morton Jr., Gary Morton Sr. and Caleb Sturgis reeled in the winning 70 pounds for $1,350.

Close behind were Team Stumpgrinder of Dale Sturgis and Danial Sturgis at 69.70 pounds for $810, and Team Miller of Brandon Miller and Justin Barger at 67.95 pounds for $546.

The next tournament is Jan. 9 on Lake Wateree.

Series sponsors are Fish Bite Rod Holders, JamieK Outdoors, Catch The Fever Outdoors, Boat Sales of Lake Wylie, Q2U BBQ, Kangaroo Express and Pepsi.
