Religion news: Service for those grieving Dec. 6 in Lake Wylie

Bible study new member class Dec. 2

Community Bible Study will hold a new member class 9:30-11:30 a.m. Dec. 2 at River Hills Community Church.

This study is an interdenominational, in-depth Bible study and not church affiliated.

The study of Revelation begins Dec. 9. Cost is $25 for adults, and $10 for children and includes the lesson book.

Service for those grieving Dec. 6

River Hills Community Church, 104 Hamilton’s Ferry Road, is holding A Quiet Christmas service at 5 p.m. Dec. 6 for anyone struggling with grief and loss.

This service offers a new framework to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Other upcoming events at the church include:

▪ The musical “Emannuel, God is With Us” presented at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 20. The Chancel Choir with orchestra is under the direction of John Leon Lewis. Church pastors will be narrators sharing Scripture about the meaning of Christmas.

▪ The church’s presents the children’s Christmas service at 5 p.m. Dec. 20 in the sanctuary.

Chanukah Extravaganza Dec. 12 in Fort Mill

Temple Kol Ami is throwing a Chanukah Extravaganza 4-6 p.m., followed by a brisket dinner and menorah lighting, Dec. 12 at 303 Tom Hall St.

There will be children’s crafts stations, face painting, photo booth, artists bazaar, games and latkes. This is free and open to the public.

Following the games and crafts, dinner is served with a menorah lighting 6-7 p.m. This is free for Temple members or $10 for non-members.

Ministry sets up GoFundMe page

New Life Purpose Ministries has set up a GoFundMe page to reach its goal to help recovery for people suffering substance abuse, or emotional and mental health disorders. The site is http://gogetfunding.com/new-life-purpose-ministries/.

“We have helped countless individuals in their quest for recovery, yet we have little to no financial support,” said the Rev. Ricou L. Williams, senior director and founder of New Life Purpose Ministries/Take 2 Enhancement Programs started in 2013.

The transitional recovery program includes spiritual enhancement, interpersonal relations and identifying with core problems, vocational training and assistance with underlying issues, assistance and programs for men and women with Alzheimer’s and dementia and family programs.

The goal is reach $10,000 to provide shelter, food, clothing, transportation and medical assistance.

The ministry is now on the list for housing through Wells Fargo Community Urban Stabilization Program, designed to assist nonprofit agencies with donated properties.

Community Cafe serves lunch Tuesdays

The Community Cafe offers free weekly lunches 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly.

The Cafe at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church in Fort Mill serves lunch 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays.
