Wiggins named S.C. driver ed teacher of year

The South Carolina Driver Education Teacher of the Year Award was presented Nov. 20 to Clover High School’s Robbie Wiggins. This honor recognizes a person with distinguished service in driver and traffic safety education.

Wiggins has been teaching for 41 years, and began teaching driver education in 1987. He also part of the support staff for the football team.

The award was presented by the South Carolina Driver & Traffic Safety Education Association during its annual conference in Blythewood. SCDTSEA is the only state association that represents high school and commercial school driver educators.

Final district rezoning meeting Dec. 9

The Clover School District will hold its last of four rezoning information meetings at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at Clover Middle School.

Lake Wylie Elementary School parade Dec. 12

The 20th annual Lake Wylie Elementary School’s Winter Parade is at 11 a.m. Dec. 12.

The theme is Board Games and Apps. Each class, school or organization interprets the theme by dressing in costume and decorating a float. Grand marshal is Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent Ann Clark.

The parade begins at Lake Wylie Elementary School and winds through The Crossings neighborhood (Moss Road) and ends at Good Shepherd Church.

Hold blood drive for scholarship

The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas offers high school and college students a chance to win college scholarship money.

To qualify for a Holiday Heroes scholarship, students must host a blood drive Dec. 19-Jan. 9. CBCC will award a $1,000 college scholarship to the student who collects the most units. Call 704-972-4727 for information.
