1995

▪ A new restaurant opened in Fort Mill Township. Café Carolinas opened on Gold Hill Road in the former Gold Hill Yacht Club building.

▪ Indian Land High School 1991 graduate Larry Lambert was serving in the Mediterranean with the U.S. Navy Sixth Fleet.

▪ For the second time this basketball season, the Indian Land Warriors took a twin bill from Fort Mill’s Yellow Jackets. The girls won 51-40 and the boys were winners by a 77-53 margin.

▪ Chuck Fling and DeWayne Lundy received the Hugh White MVP player awards in football at the Fort Mill High School fall sports banquet.

1975

▪ The Fort Mill National Guard Co. received a new tank, a M48A5, from the South Carolina Army Reserve National Guard.

▪ Sherry Ann Wilson, 19, was recently elected Homecoming Queen at the South Carolina School for the Deaf.

▪ A new Fort Mill housing development, to be built in the McKenzie-Meyers Street area, was announced by Bob Hill Realty.

▪ Fort Mill and Indian Land split their first basketball games of the season. The Yellow Jackets opened against Clover and Indian Land against Buford.

1955

▪ The Men’s Shop, at 217 Main St., had some great buys for Christmas shoppers. The business was selling men’s suits for $29.50, dress shirts for $2.95 and trench coats for $18.95.

▪ The Fort Mill basketball teams split a double header with Clover. The boys won 44-36 while the girls fell 37-30.

1935

▪ Mary Sturgis Blankenship, widow of Sam Blankenship, died suddenly near her home in the Gold Hill Community.

▪ All officers of Catawba Lodge, No. 56, A.F.M., were re-elected for another year. Claude D. Turner was Worshipful Master.

1915

▪ Will Snooks was allowed to plead guilty to attempted criminal assault and was sentenced to three years on the Public Works of the county.

▪ The first snow of the season continued for several hours reaching a depth of about 2 inches.
