Oakridge Middle School basketball sees 3 wins, 1 loss

▪ The seventh grade Oakridge Middle School boys’ basketball team won 31-20 against Fort Mill Middle School.

The team was led by Dawson Malcolm – 11 points, 10 rebounds; JoJo Turner – 8 points; Noah Caulder – 6 points, 5 steals, 3 assists; Elliot Zinser – 4 points, 5 rebounds; Austin Stroup – 6 rebounds; Baker Womack – 2 points.

▪ The seventh grade girls’ basketball team ran out with an 8-0 lead the game against Fort Mill Yellow Jackets that ended in a 35-14 win. The team recorded 28 steals on the night and forced more than 40 turnovers by the visitors.

The team was led by Grace Griffith – 6 rebounds, 2 steals; Bella Huston – 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal; Miranda Parham – 1 steal; Autumn Huskey – 1 rebound, 1 steal; Alexa Smith – 1 rebound, 1 block, 2 assists, 3 steals; Aylesha Wade – 14 rebounds, 1 block, 3 assists, 9 steals; Ashanti Michel – 4 rebounds, 2 steals; Christina Jones – 1 rebound, 2 steals; Angel Jones – 4 rebounds; Rylie Zohner – 7 steals.

▪ The eighth grade boys’ team beat Fort Mill Middle 30-28. The Golden Eagles jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead and never trailed for the rest of the game. The Yellow Jackets tried to claw their way back into it, but Oakridge was able to hold them off at the end.

Stats: Drew Moore – 7 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists; Blackmon Huckabee – 13 points, 4 rebounds; Derrick Karsch – 8 points, 4 rebounds; Brandon Malcolm – 2 points, 2 assists, 4 steals; Carson Onoszko – 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals.

▪ The eighth grade Lady Golden Eagles lost to Fort Mill 33-19.

Leading the Lady Golden Eagles in scoring were Sara-Kate Dixon – 8 points, 9 rebounds; Ali Glenn – 6 points, 5 rebounds; Morgan Osborne – 4 points, 4 rebounds.
