▪ Indian Land Middle School eighth-graders Tiffany Bonar, Greg Bridges and Brandi Lemmonds were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.

▪  The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department received two Christmas presents, a new fire truck and one that had been repaired due to a wreck.

▪ Reservations for all of 1996 would be accepted beginning Jan. 2 for Springmaid Beach and Springmaid Mountain.

▪ Fort Mill High student Anna Klepzcynski won the VFW Oratorical Scholarship local and district competition and advanced to the state level.

1955

▪ Mrs. W. M. Mack announced that a New Year’s Eve party would be held at the Fort Mill Golf Course clubhouse for high school and college age young people.

▪ Richard C. Oliver of Fort Mill was sworn into the Navy’s new campus to cockpit flight program and reported to Pensacola NAS.

1935

▪ Ben Ardrey, Junior Cairco, Elwyn Case, Mary Sue Hoke, Anne Springs and Leroy Springs made the Fort Mill School District honor roll.

▪ Cotton salvaged from the recent cotton warehouse fire of Culp Brothers was sold at auction.

1915

▪ Miss Elizabeth Pillsbury who was in charge of the millinery department of Patterson’s Dry Goods store during the fall season, returned to her home in Baltimore.

▪ The Rev. W. A. Haffner preached his final sermon at the Presbyterian Church to a congregation that completely filled the church.
