Fort Mill Police Department invites public to mixer

Residents can connect with Fort Mill Police Department officers over a hot cup of Joe.

The department will host Coffee Talk from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Z-Bakery in Fort Mill. Residents can meet officers and ask questions about safety, crime prevention and crime trends, said officer Johnathan Gilbert.

“The idea for this event came from seeing the growth in our community and wanting to keep our relationship with everyone as close as possible,” he said.

Gilbert, along with Lt. Ray Dixon, will represent the department’s crime prevention unit at the talk. There will also be patrol officers in attendance. Chief Jeff Helms is expected to come by as well.

“We, as a department, are growing and it is often when I hear someone say that knew all of the officers at one point, but now it seems like they see a new face every day,” Gilbert said.

“This will give everyone a chance to meet some of our officers and get to know us.”
