Be inspired to do good things in 2016

This has been a great holiday season for me. I have experienced both joy and inspiration.

I was invited to the Recreation/Senior Center last Monday and Tuesday. It was there that I received the gift of inspiration. On Monday, the seniors took up a collection and presented a gift to the Lancaster Children’s Home in the amount of $460.

It was something they were inspired to do on their own.

On Tuesday, when I walked into the center, it was full of Christmas gifts – one for everyone attending the Senior Center program. All of these gifts were donated by Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church members. One of the seniors said they do this every year.

A lot of inspiration here.

After the gifts were opened, the children from the after school program on the other side of the building came into the room to present a Christmas program. They sang all the traditional songs and when they got to “Silent Night” they sang it in German. The original “Silent Night” was written in German. They were taught by the director of the after school program, Christi Johnson and her staff, Julie Morgan, director of the senior center, and Doris Keth, a former teacher at Indian Land Elementary School and a senior attendee who also played the piano and narrated the program.

When you wait with inspiration, your time is not wasted. How sad that we have relegated inspiration to poets, artists and writers. Inspiration adds spice and zest into our lives. This year, let’s be filled with inspiration.

Here’s wishing you all a very happy new year.
