Clover Woman’s Club peeks inside Closets By Design in Steele Creek Jan. 14

Women’s club meeting Jan. 14

The River Hills Women’s Club will not have a luncheon in January and will instead host a Ladies Night Out Open House 5-8 p.m. Jan. 14 at River Hills Country Club.

Hors d’oeuvres are included in the event price of $20. Cash bar will be available. There also will be booths with goods for sale including jewelry artists, makeup artist, baked breads, glass fusion crafts, spices and blends and a photographer.

Clover Woman’s Club meeting Jan. 14

The Clover Woman’s Club will meet at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at Closets By Design, 1200 Westinghouse Boulevard, suite E, Charlotte.

The program by Closets By Design will be followed by a business meeting at John’s Restaurant, 2002 Westinghouse Blvd.

Meet at 1:30 p.m. the parking lot behind First United Methodist Church, 120 Bethel St., to carpool.

Rock Hill Music Club festival Jan. 14

The Rock Hill Music Club presents “A Festival of Hymns,” at 4 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, 144 Caldwell St.

The festival features voices from the choirs of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church, Doby’s Bridge Presbyterian Church with Donald Moe as Narrator, Virginia Moe on Organ, Timothy Moe on Trombone and Richard Hart on Trumpet. LaVerne Vinegar is coordinator.

Ballroom Dance Club meets Jan. 15

The Ballroom Dance Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Oak Room of the Fort Mill Golf Course, 101 Country Club Drive.

Guest admission is $15 per couple, $7.50, singles and includes a free dance lesson. Dances also include swing and shag.

Historical group to look at American Revolution

York County Genealogical & Historical Society will meet at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at Catawba Cultural Preservation Center, 1536 Tom Steven Road.

The program theme is “The American Revolution in York County.” Robert Ryals will talk about the role of the Catawba Indian Nation in the French and Indian War and in the America Revolution.

Joy of Gardening set Feb. 27

Early-bird registration is open for the 11th annual Joy of Gardening Symposium on Feb. 27 at Baxter Hood Center.

The keynote speaker is Norman Winter, director of the University of Georgia’s Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens in Savannah, Ga. A nationally syndicated columnist, Winter will discuss “Hot New Plants and Captivating Combinations.” He also will lead one of six break-out sessions, covering topics ranging from attracting pollinators to succulent gardens. Paula Gross, assistant director of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Botanical Gardens, will give the closing program.

Admission to the symposium, sponsored by the Master Gardeners of York County, also includes lunch, vendors offering garden-related products and door prizes.

4-H 4K Run 4-Health March 5

York County 4-H will host the 4-H 4K Run 4-Health at 9 a.m. March 5.

The four ‘H’s’ in 4-H stand for head, heart, hands and health. This 4 kilometer run is designed to encourage a healthy lifestyle among youth and community members to increase physical activity.
