Fourth grader wins spelling bee at Palisades Episcopal School
Vasquez wins PES spelling bee
Amelia Vasquez, a fourth-grader at Palisades Episcopal School, won the school Scripps Spelling Bee.
She will represent PES at the regional independent school finals at the end of the month.
Great outdoors classes planned
The Clemson Extension Service in York County and city of Rock Hill host Great Outdoors Adventures 4-H Edition for Homeschool Youth ages 5-15 from February-May.
Four events will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Rock Hill locations.
▪ Feb. 18 at Northside Recreation Center: climbing wall, goal setting, animal adaptations, edible artifacts.
▪ March 17 at Glencairn Garden: soil quality, healthy green thumb, mapping, geocaching.
▪ April 21 at Rock Hill Outdoor Center & River Walk: bicycle safety, ecosystems, ecology, history hike.
▪ May 19 at River Park: Kayaking ages 10 and older, ecology hike younger than age 9, creek time, water quality, orienteering.
Cost is $65 for ages 5-9 and $75 for ages 10-15, and includes 2015-2016 4-H yearly membership. Registration deadline is Jan. 29. For more information, call 803-684-9919 or visit clemson.edu/york.
