UrgentVet Pet Clinic opens in Belmont

First UrgentVet opens in Belmont

Dr. Jim Dobies, owner of South Point Pet Hospital in Belmont for the past 10 years, is helping to create a new type of pet care with the opening of UrgentVet Pet Clinic at 600-A Park St. in Belmont.

He told Montcross Area Chamber members attending the grand opening his UrgentVet practice is the first of its type in the country filling a void between traditional veterinary clinics and emergency pet hospitals. Urgent Vet is designed to treat cats and dogs in pain or in need of care that is not an emergency at night and on weekends when most primary care clinics are closed.

Queen’s Feast set for Jan. 22-31

The semi-annual Queen’s Feast: Charlotte Restaurant Week will Jan. 22-31, featuring a record 133 restaurants in the metro Charlotte area offering prix fixe menus of three courses or more at dinner for $30 or $35 per person (not including tax and gratuity).

The January promotion includes restaurants in eight counties – Mecklenburg, Gaston, Lincoln, Catawba, Iredell, Cabarrus, Union and York.

This winter’s Queen’s Feast features 15 first-time restaurant participants, including: Corkbuzz Restaurant & Wine Bar in SouthPark; CO Pan Asian Cuisine and ROCKSALT, both in Park Road Shopping Center; BLOCK Bistro in Huntersville; JP Charlotte at the Westin in uptown Charlotte; Union Street Bistro in Concord; Pearlz Oyster Bar in Ballantyne; and Lily’s Italian Bistro in Gastonia.

Diners presenting an AAA membership card while dining in those restaurants during Queen’s Feast will have the opportunity to purchase a $50 gift certificate for a return visit to the restaurant for $25.

Belmont chamber network event Jan. 14

Chyrch Realty and Commercial Carolina will host the Montcross Area Chamber’s first Network After Work reception of 2016 at 5:30-7 p.m. Jan. 14 at South New Hope Business Center, 3826 Unit 4 South New Hope Road, Gastonia.

See the new business office for the Chronicle Mill redevelopment project in Belmont. Chyrch Realty is owned by John and Jennifer Church, developers of the Chronicle Mill. Commercial Carolina, owned by Robert Settle and Bob Smith, is working with potential tenants to lease space in the mill.

The Chronicle was Belmont’s first textile mill, and it’s being transformed to commercial office, retail and meeting space. Wood from the Chronicle Mill and other fixtures and relics have been used in construction of the Chyrch Realty offices.

Hogzilla NC BBQ celebrates with chamber

Montcross Area Chamber celebrated the opening of Hogzilla NC BBQ with a ribbon cutting at the offices of the chamber in the Stowe Building.

About 75 guests enjoyed a menu of pulled pork, ribs, beef brisket, baked beans, collards, mac n’ cheese, Brunswick stew and pierogies.

Mark and Jo Magda are the owners of award-winning Hogzilla NC BBQ, which operates from a catering kitchen in southern Gaston County.
