River Hills/Lake Wylie Lions poster contest winners named
Alexis Bono of Clover Middle School and Mirie Ahn of Oakridge Middle won the River Hills/Lake Wylie Peace Poster Contest.
Winners received a $50 gift certificate and a certificate of achievement. This year’s theme was Share Peace.
“Peace is like a flower in a battlefield,” Bono said. “It is something beautiful in a time of turmoil. If we share that and if we’re able to give it to others, we will be able to change the world.”
Ahn also won District 32-D and multi-district for the state. Her poster advanced to Lions Club International for the highest level of competition. Top prize is a trip to Lions Day Award at the United Nations and a $5,000 prize.
“Peace is to share love, light, and to be calm in one’s mind and heart,” Ahn said.
