Goddard School steps away from Lake Wylie site

The Lake Wylie site planned for a Goddard School location is back on the market.

A company spokesperson for the school last week told the Lake Wylie Pilot it was planning to build an 8,000-square-foot facility near the CVS on Charlotte Highway (S.C. 49), west of Robinwood Lane. The plan was to open by the end of the year.

Kay Westmoreland with Allen Tate Realtors today said today plans fell through.

“We had it under contract,” she said. “They voided it. The due diligence was not complete.”

Linda Seitz, one of the property owners, confirmed the contract was terminated before the sale was finalized.

“The way things stand at this date,” she said April 6, “they will not be located on the property.”

Goddard verbally notified the real estate company of the termination March 21, and sent it March 23. A week later, a Goddard spokesperson detailed plans to the Pilot.

Westmoreland said the buyer and seller “were days away” from completing the contract before it was terminated, which could have led to confusion.

The 2.68-acre site is zoned to allow for a variety of commercial uses. It includes road frontage along S.C. 49, between the pharmacy and Scherer Memorial Presbyterian Church.
