Cool, wet May night yields 16.26-lb. winning fishing tourney weight
Another good turnout with 49 boats on a cold, wet and windy night May 5 at the Thursday Night Tournament Trail.
“So far this season we have had very good weather for the tournament, but I guess one not so perfect weather night is expected,” said event co-organizer Erwin Gaston. “Even with the bad weather, there were fish to be caught.”
A 16.26-pound bag of largemouths took the win by the team of Tim Chapman and Mark Leech. They also had the big fish of the night that weighed in at 5.58 pounds.
The team of Jason Quinn and Tony Calacurcio took second with 15.24 pounds, follow by Britt Myers and Gene Webster with a close 15.23 pounds to take third.
Fourth place went to the father-son team of Russ and David Winters with 14.18 pounds.
The weekly night tournament runs through Aug. 25, with launches and weigh ins at Buster Boyd Access Area. The Championship Fish-off Sept. 2-3.
Trail sponsors are Academy Sports and Kangaroo Express.
