New Fort Mill school administrators approved
Four administrative positions were approved by the Fort Mill school board at its June 7 meeting. The administrators and their new posts are:
Tony Caricari
Principal Fort Mill Middle
Caricari has been an assistant principal at Fort Mill Middle School since 2005. Prior to that, he held a variety of teaching and administrative roles in the Clover School District. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Erskine College, an M.Ed. in Sports Management from East Stroudsburg University, and a Certificate in School Supervision from Winthrop University. Caricari lives in Fort Mill with his wife, Debbie. They have two sons who graduated from Nation Ford High School.
Adam Fantone
Assistant Principal Doby’s Bridge Elementary
After five years teaching in Jacksonville, N.C., Fantone started teaching in the Fort Mill School District in 2010 at Orchard Park Elementary and then transferred to Doby’s Bridge Elementary School when it opened in 2014. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with an emphasis on early childhood education from Mount Union College. Fantone is Nationally Board Certified and holds a Master’s in K-12 Administration from California University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Fort Mill with his wife, Candice.
Grey Young
Principal Pleasant Knoll Middle
Young began his teaching career in 2001 at Fort Mill High School. After five years in the classroom, he assisted in the opening of Springfield Middle School and served as its assistant principal until becoming principal at Pleasant Knoll Elementary School in 2013. Young earned his B.S. in Elementary Education from Winthrop University, followed by an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. He will assume his new role as Pleasant Knoll Middle principal in January 2017 and will lead the opening of the new middle school in August 2017. Young lives in Fort Mill with his wife, Tracy, and their two children.
Maurice Murphy
Assistant Principal Pleasant Knoll Middle
With PKMS still under construction, Murphy, principal of the Horry County Education Center (alternative school) in Conway, will remain there until 2017. Prior to his present position, Murphy held assistant principal positions at both the middle and high school levels, as well as a variety of physical education teaching and coaching positions. He earned his Bachelors in Health, Exercise and Sports Science from The Citadel, a Bachelors in Physical Education from Coastal Carolina University, and a Master’s in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University. Murphy, his wife, Emily, and their two daughters will move to the Fort Mill area in summer 2017.
