Details aren’t set and an opening date isn’t confirmed, but plans are for Copper Premium Pub to open by August.

Copper Premium Pub will open at 4516 Charlotte Highway, the former site of Cafe 49.

Kanos also is co-owner of Glenway Premium Pub at 55 Glenway St. in Belmont.

The Lake Wylie site has been under construction for months, mainly expanding the outdoor seating area.

“We’re going through some inspections right now, but probably, in a perfect world, it would be open by the first of August, but we’ll see,” Kanos said. “Definitely August will be the latest.”

The restaurant recently set up a website and Facebook page offering information on what will be served. Kanos said the information needs updating, but said the general idea for Copper Premium Pub is the same.

The website copperpremiumpub.com mentions 30 craft beers on tap. A full menu isn’t listed.

“Copper Premium Pub finally brings the premium pub experience to Lake Wylie!” the site states. “We pride ourselves on a family friendly environment focused on great food and drinks artfully crafted by hand by our professional staff, and service that can't be beat!”

Kanos said he is looking forward to finishing up construction and getting the restaurant up and running. Based on the questions he gets from the community, he expects others are eager, too.

“There is a lot of interest,” he said.

Cafe 49 closed in fall 2014 after six years in Lake Wylie. A fire at the restaurant earlier that year cost the business more than a month for repairs.
