Back to school events
▪ Clover School District announces the annual Back-to-School Bash will be 6-8 p.m. Aug. 5 at Memorial Stadium.
An addition to this year’s event is a school spirit contest. The school best represented at the event will receive a prize, while one student from each school will win an award. The percentage of students attending the event from each school will be the main factor in determining the winner of the spirit award.
District administration and staff will hand out school supplies. In addition, there will be a “Meet the Eagles” event, introducing sports team members from throughout the district.
More than 600 backpacks filled with supplies and nearly 300 pairs of shoes were handed out at last year’s event. The bash will feature games, entertainment, food, face painting and opportunity for free eye exams.
School supply donations may be dropped off at Clover Community Bank branches in Clover and Lake Wylie, and the district office.
▪ During tax-free weekend Aug. 6, The Heart2Heart Foundation, Rock Hill School District 3 and Rock Hill Galleria have teamed up with 30 community agencies and businesses to bring the Back2School Block Party to the mall 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
This free event features blood pressure & BMI checks, chair massages, photo booth, face painting, family fitness activities, child IDs and coupons from mall merchants. Adults and students participating in events can earn tickets to win door prizes and be entered into a drawing for one of three grand prizes from Revolutions! Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Eta Alpha Omega Chapter will distribute free filled book bags to the first 100 students registered by parents for the event.
