Fort Mill competitive but tennis playoff run over

The Fort Mill High girls’ tennis team’s season came to an end in the second round of the 5A playoffs when they lost to another Yellow Jackets team.

Fort Mill lost 6-0 to the TL Hanna Yellow Jackets on the road at the Anderson based school. Fort Mill lost each match in straight sets, but was able to play competitively with TL Hanna, taking 13 games.

Fort Mill’s No. 1 singles Elizabeth Fitzgerald lost 6-1, 6-1 and No. 2 singles Shreya Katti fell 6-0, 6-0. In one of the closer matches, No. 3 singles Rachel Brooks lost 6-2, 6-2 for Fort Mill.

In No 4 singles Wallace Cortazar lost 6-0, 6-2 for Fort Mill and No. 5 singles Ellie Prain lost 6-3, 6-1 in another close match for the Jackets. In the only doubles action, Claire Neal and Jamie Petrella lost 6-0, 6-1 in No. 2 doubles.

The loss ended Fort Mill’s season with a 10-4 record.
