With a 1-0 loss to 10th-ranked Clover, the No. 7 Nation Ford Lady Falcons girls’ soccer team was left sitting in second place in Region III behind Fort Mill and ahead of Clover.

The Lady Falcons had lost to Fort Mill twice earlier in the season and split with Clover, which also was swept by Fort Mill.

Nation Ford was scheduled to host No. 8 Mauldin Monday in the first round of the playoffs.

Nation Ford head coach Caitlyn Bagwell said his team had trouble rebounding from a slow start.

“We struggled to finish,” Bagwell said. “This was an off night for us in terms of finishing.”

Clover held command from the beginning, scored just six and-a-half minutes into the game and continued to stay on the attack.

The Lady Blue Eagles took nine shots on goal in the game, while Nation Ford managed just six – three in each half. While Nation Ford played better in the second half, Clover continued to control possession.

Despite the loss, Nation Ford bounced back and beat Rock Hill in its regular season final 3-1. The Lady Falcons finished the regular season with a 13-7-0 record, while Mauldin comes in at 14-8-0 record.
