Cheerleader Marah Savage recentlywon a gold medal with her team, Cheer Extreme Coed Elite out of Kernersville, N.C., at The Cheerleading Worlds at Disney World in Orlando, Fla.
Savage, 13, of Fort Mill, and her 35 teammates competed in the Large Coed Division. The event is held at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports, where teams from all over the world compete with more than 8,000 people in attendance. To compete at Cheerleading Worlds, a team must win a national competition. Coed Elite competed this year in Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, California, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida.
In Orlando, the Elite competed during two days and performed a perfect routine on the final day to secure the gold medal. Savage has cheered for Cheer Extreme for four years. She attends Springfield Middle School and is the daughter of Grant and Erika Savage.
The competition will be shown on ESPN in June. The date and time have yet to be announced.
