Lightning interrupts Post 43’s shutout bid
American Legion Post 43’s Clay Hunt hit a two-run home run in the first inning and pitcher Clay Helvey was working a shutout against Rock Hill’s Post 34 Thursday, but Mother Nature got in the way of a win.
Fort Mill was leading 5-0 when the game was suspended because of lightning prior to a downpour. Up to that point, Helvey had allowed just one hit and worked his way out of a small jam in the second inning. He had struck out three and allowed one walk.
Post 43 (2-0) has three games scheduled this coming week, two of them at home.
