Springfield’s Greenwave edged in opening swim meet
The Springfield Greenwave swim team fell 264.5-241.5 to Brookhaven in its first meet of the summer.
Springfield, swimming in one of the tougher two divisions of the Greater Charlotte Swim League, won 20 of the 44 events against Brookhaven, including half of the relay events.
Leading the way for Springfield were Lucas Grigat and Ryan Williams, both of whom won two events.
Individual winners for Springfield against Brookhaven were:
Lucas Grigat – boys’ 11-12 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter individual medley
Ryan Williams – boys’ 15-18 50-meter backstroke and 100-meter individual medley
Mia Clyburn – girls’ 8 and under 25-meter freestyle
Alex Eaton – boys’ 8 and under 25-meter freestyle
Emily Eaton – girls’ 9-10 25-meter freestyle
Victoria Morgan – girls’ 13-14 50-meter freestyle
Nicolas Grigat – boys’ 13-14 50-meter freestyle
Summer Rayne Whyte – girls’ 8 and under 25-meter backstroke
James Jones – boys’ 8 and under 25-meter backstroke
Megan Gallagher – girls’ 15-18 50-meter backstroke
Kate Bodel – girls’ 8 and under 25-meter breaststroke
Gabe Schmitz – boys’ 8 and under 25-meter breaststroke
Mili Shah – girls’ 9-10 25-meter breaststroke
The Greenwave have two events this week, one at home and one on the road Thursday.
