Fort Mill Sharks win Division V title

The Fort Mill Sharks rode a wave of success from the opening horn to win the Greater Charlotte Swim League Division V All-Star meet.

The Sharks, based out of the Anne Springs Close Greenway Complex, tallied 1,697 points to best Brandon Oaks, who was in second place with 135.5 points.

“When they announced Beverly Crest was in third, I knew we had won it,” said Sharks head coach Harry Truesdale.

With the win, the Sharks avenge its only loss of the year, which was to Beverly Crest earlier in the season.

Fort Mill won five of the 20 relay events. Relay winners for the Sharks were:

▪  Girls’ 8 and under 100-yard medley relay – Aliya Ling, Sophia Tang, Celina Vu and Jadyn Nelson.

▪  Boys’ 9 and 10 100-yard medley relay – Luke Claudy, Alex Tang, Diego Caravaca and Kevin Pollard.

▪  Girls’ 8 and under 100-yard freestyle relay – Sophia Tang, Aliya Ling, Jadyn Nelson and Celina Vu.

▪  Boys’ 9 and 10 100-yard freestyle relay – Diego Caravaca, Alex Tang, Kevin Pollard and Luke Claudy.

▪  Boys’ 13 and 14 200-yard freestyle relay – Kevin Clausen, Jaques Caravaca, Ryan Fisher and Kaden Teel.

Individual winners for the Sharks were:

▪  Sophia Tang – girls’ 8 and under 25-yard backstroke and 25-yard breaststroke.

▪  Luke Claudy – boys’ 9 and 10 25-yard backstroke and 25-yard butterfly.

▪  Emily Ford – girls’ 9 and 10 25-yard freestyle.

▪  Celina Vu – girls’ 8 and under 25-yard butterfly.
