Lady Jackets’ golfers edge Nation Ford

The Fort Mill Lady Jackets opened the season with wins in a three-way match and a win over rival Nation Ford.

The Lady Jackets edged Nation Ford 211-214 at Fort Mill Golf Club with Nation Ford’s Zoe Bowers taking medalist honors shooting a 50.

Fort Mill was led by Devin Sallenger and Amelia Majcina, who both shot a 52 for the Lady Jackets.

The Lady Jackets top four were all within three shots of each other. Following Sallenger and Majcina’s 52 was Alex Quinn’s 53 and Ashley Babinchek’s 54.

Nation Ford’s Cameron Levosky shot a 51, but the remaining Lady Falcons’ scores were slightly higher. Amber Bellamy shot a 56 and Logan James shot a 57 to finish out the scoring for Nation Ford.

Earlier in the week, Fort Mill beat both Northwestern and York shooting a 192, to the Lady Trojans 202 and Lady Cougars 204.

The Lady Jackets were led by Alexia Van Zanten, who shot a 45 in her round against Northwestern and York.

Fort Mill takes on Clover next on the road, while Nation Ford squares off against York and Gaffney this week at its home course of Springfield Golf Club and then heads to Gaffney later in the week.
