Sports briefs: Boosters offer chance to win $1,000

Buy a golf ball, chance to win $1,000

The Fort Mill High School Athletic Booster Club will host its first Golf Ball Drop just before kick off at the Sept. 18 varsity football game. Money raised from this event will go toward scoreboards and field improvements around campus.

For $20 a ball, participants will have the chance to win up to $1,000 by being closest to the pin. Numbered balls will be dropped from a ladder fire truck onto the football practice field. The ball that ends up closest to a prize spot wins. Cash prizes will be $1,000 for closest to the pin, $500 for second closest, $250 for third and for $20 furthest. Other prizes and gift cards from restaurants and stores in the local area will also be given as prizes.

Ball tickets can be purchased at FMHS events, from student athletes or at fortmillathletics.com/athleticboosters.
