Falcons’ cross-country runs past Clover

Despite not having an individual winner in the meet, the Nation Ford cross-country team beat Clover in its first home meet of the season at the Anne Springs Close Greenway.

The Nation Ford girls team won 20-58 and the boys’ team won 25-43. Clover’s Jesse Defalco won the meet for the girls, but Nation Ford had the next eight finishers.

Leading the way for the girls’ squad was Anna Hardymon, the first Nation Ford finisher at 21:59, 63 seconds behind Defalco.

Marlena Schwinhorst came in third at 22:06 and was followed by Cate Tedford at 22:40.

Coming in fifth was Katie Pou at 22:53 and then Elaine Griffith came in sixth six seconds later to round out the scoring for Nation Ford.

Clover’s Will White won the boys’ meet in 17:49, but it was the Nation Ford runners who finished third through ninth to give the Falcons the team win.

The top finisher for the Falcons was Malcolm McClain, who came in third at 17:56, three seconds out of second place.

Cleve Fisher was fourth overall in 18:12 and was followed by Cutler Arbon at 18:18. Tim Tom was sixth at 18:27 and Thomas Windell finished out the scoring coming in seventh at 18:27.

Nation Ford will host Rock Hill this week at the Greenway before heading to Greenville this week in to participate in the Furman Classic.
