Jackets take 3-way golf match on Falcons’ home course
Despite all the recent wet weather, both Nation Ford and Fort Mill were able to play some golf recently.
Nation Ford hosted their cross-town rivals and Rock Hill in a three-way match at Springfield Golf Club with Fort Mill getting the best of both squads winning 219 to 229 for Rock Hill and 235 for Nation Ford.
Leading the way for the Lady Jackets was Devin Sallenger, who shot a 50, just three strokes off the lead for medalist.
Sallenger was followed by Lilly Smith’s 53 and Alex Quinn’s 56. Maci Wiley wrapped up the Lady Jackets scoring with a 60.
For Nation Ford, Logan James led with a 56 and was followed by a 58 from Lauranne Longley. Both Cameron Levosky and Zoe Bowers shot a 61 to finish out the scoring for the Lady Falcons.
Up next for both Fort Mill and Nation Ford is the Region III-4A tournament on Clover’s home course at River Hills Country Club. A top four finish from either or both schools over the 18-hole tournament will guarantee them a spot in the Upper State tournament out at Fox Run Country Club in Simpsonville.
The Upper State tournament is scheduled for Oct. 19.
